N. Pat Miller was raised in Riverdale, Prince Georges County, Maryland where he grew up in a loving home and attended Catholic schools. His idealistic life came to a shocking halt in 1968, when he was drafted into the Army as an infantry soldier. He spent twenty-eight years as an officer with the Prince Georges County Police Department assigned to uniform patrol in Districts I and III, and then as a detective in District I, Robbery and Homicide. He now resides with his wife in California.
