About the Book

One Monday evening as the sun started to fade.

Grandpa Thomas noticed his granddaughter Pearl had not eaten any of the desserts that he made. He called out her name but did not hear a sound. Surely, she was home, but he wondered where she was now. He walked through the kitchen and out the back door. There rested Pearl, his loving granddaughter whom he adored. He sat next to her on the steps of the back deck. He noticed she seemed sad, so he sat down with her to chat.

Then Grandfather Thomas said, “My little adorable Pearl, Your precious eyes are so big and brown. What is it that has your smile turned upside down?”
