God has given pastors gifts consistent with their calling to lead specific congregations. But stories are often told of pastors who experience congregational conflict and hostility that lead to the suppression of their pastoral gifts and personalities. The subsequent outcome is a decline in, or complete absence of, pastoral authenticity that often results in pastors transitioning from churches either by resignation or termination. Using my personal pastoral resignation in the face of internal conflict and hostility, and similar experiences of other pastors, this project addresses maintaining pastoral authenticity through resignation and termination as a means to spiritual growth.
