Marilyn Shapiro Leys
Marilyn Shapiro Leys was born in 1941 in Philadelphia. She died in 2022 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She graduated in 1962 from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) School of Journalism. For 20 years she taught journalism and English classes in Milwaukee high schools. After retirement, she and her husband, Ron, operated a beef cattle farm in southwest Wisconsin for another 20 years. All this time, Marilyn was writing — novels, non-fiction, short stories, newspaper and magazine articles. These are some of her stories. Most are fiction, but the blackberry story really happened.
