The Author

Brian Taylor is a retired marine engineer, who later worked for a specialist insurance company and in the oil industry. In all these occupations, he travelled the world extensively. He was married for 39 years, during which time his wife was left to raise their three boys almost single handedly.

In 1989, he was made redundant and for the next twelve years, he was self-employed. He worked from home as an engineering consultant and a small ship’s surveyor. He retired from full time work in 2001, just after separating from his wife Maureen, who felt that living with him 24 hours a day, seven days a week would be too much for a normal person.

For the next 20 years, Brian spent the winters in the Canary Islands and the summers in the UK. He eventually bought a second home in Fuerteventura in 2013. The COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to his travels, so he became a book writer and wrote his autobiography, which is available from AuthorHouse. He enjoyed the experience so much; he decided to write a work of fiction about the war in the north Atlantic in 1942.
