I’ve always dreamed of being able to claim that I’ve written a book, let alone have the privilege to say I had published one. I had a tough and fast-ending childhood that led to a need of an outlet. I had seen the way other members of my family had suffered through trauma and crumbled at the feet of a drug or alcoholism. As a result, I was dead set against this unrewarding lifestyle. One day, I had come across my mother’s old poetry before she turned to other outlets for her pain. I began to write and formulate my thoughts from sentences to stanzas and I soon became hooked, as if it were my own personal drug.

By the age of 7, I knew for a fact that I wanted to help people on a large-scale basis; it didn’t matter what medium it took place through. This book is an attempt to do just that: an attempt at inspiring the same thoughts that were borne from my mother’s poetry and to help others who have experienced their own personal trauma. Even if writing isn’t something that feeds their soul, I hope there is a discovery that takes place allows that very nourishment.
