Except for stints as a US Army Airborne ranger in the jungles of Vietnam and academia at the University of Texas, the author\u2019s life remained intertwined within the historical communities of Moro and Bluff Creek, Texas, living with its occupants who came for that American dream following the tumultuous events occurring during and after America\u2019s Civil War. In this melting pot of family and neighbors, the author grew up and was drafted into the US Army; received an advanced engineering degree; farmed and ranched; designed infrastructure as a professional engineer for a private company, later Dyess Air Force Base; and, much later in life, practiced engineering in private practice. Retiring in 2011, the author began excavating some of the former villages of the many former occupants of Moro and Bluff Creek, namely, the Toyah Native Americans who thrived within Moro for six hundred years and moved on or morphed into what is referred to as the Apache culture. During retirement, the author lives and breathes this Toyah culture, trying to ascertain what life was actually like for the Toyah living here at Moro.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
